Notes

'The Bishop' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'The Bishop') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Kelsey bred it in 1936. The double blooms open in mid to late spring. Large blush outer petals surround a collar of long narrow petals that open yellow and fade white.

Pairs well with Minuteman hosta, Black-eyed Susan, Sedge, and Little Beauty tulip.
