Notes

'Toka' wild plum (Prunus americana 'Toka') is a tree for pollinator gardens, low maintenance landscapes, and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant flowers open in early to late spring and attract butterflies, bees, and birds. The fruit is grown for fresh eating and cooking, and it ripens late. You need a second plum nearby because this tree is not self-fertile.

Pairs well with American persimmon, High-bush blueberry, Garlic chives, and White snakeroot.
