Notes

'Tokio' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Tokio') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant Japanese type blooms in mid to late spring with cupped, rose-pink petals around a loose yellow-tipped center. Its strong, stiff stems stand tall and hold the large flowers well.

Pairs well with Aromatic aster, Indian grass, and Stargazer lily.
