Notes

'Tom Thumb' cranberry cotoneaster (Cotoneaster apiculatus 'Tom Thumb') is a shrub for borders, hedges, foundation plantings, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its arching branches grow at a moderate rate, and it tolerates drought and salt. Flowers open in spring and again in summer, and birds visit it. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Little Lime panicle hydrangea, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Red twig dogwood.
