Notes

Tomatillo (Physalis philadelphica) is an annual for containers and food gardens. It is tender to cold, and the first hard frost will kill it. This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It grows fast and reaches about 35 to 47 inches tall and wide. Yellow flowers open from early to late summer and bring in bees. It also tolerates drought and needs little care.

Pairs well with Pepper, Candy carrot, and Sugar Snap pea.

Native range

Mexico and Central America.
