Notes

'Tricolor' European beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Tricolor') is a tree for specimen planting, accent, hedge, and privacy screen uses. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It grows slowly into a dense shape, and birds visit the tree. Yellowish-green flowers open in spring. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with River birch, Christmas fern, and Elegans hosta.
