Notes

Tufted evening primrose (Oenothera cespitosa) is a perennial for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry soil of most types. The large white flowers open in late afternoon, close the next morning, and fade to pink or red-violet. They are fragrant. Birds eat the seed, so leave the seed heads in place.

Pairs well with Bird's foot violet, Purple lovegrass, and Ornamental onion.
