Notes
'UCONNAM165' black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa 'UCONNAM165') is a shrub for borders, hedges, rain gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open from early to late spring and attract butterflies, bees, and birds. The leaves turn a rich color in fall, and the shrub tolerates drought.
Pairs well with Hummingbird sweet pepperbush, Aromatic aster, and Royal fern.
