Notes

'Vanguard' scarlet sage (Salvia splendens 'Vanguard') is a perennial for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It forms a clump, grows fast, and tolerates drought. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Mammoth sunflower, Hamari Gold dahlia, and Impatiens.
