Notes
'Variegata' giant dogwood (Cornus controversa 'Variegata') is a tree for borders, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows at a rapid rate and has an erect habit. White flowers open in spring and attract butterflies, bees, and birds.
Pairs well with Bloodgood Japanese maple, Autumn fern, and June hosta.
