Notes
'Wellsiana' sweet violet (Viola odorata 'Wellsiana') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, shade gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a clump, grows fast, and stays evergreen. Fragrant flowers open in early to late spring and draw butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.
Pairs well with White Feather hosta, Western sword fern, and Ruby Spice sweet pepperbush.
