Notes
'Queen Charlotte' sweet violet (Viola odorata 'Queen Charlotte') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, ground cover, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet soil of most types. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The clumping, evergreen plants spread 12 to 24 inches at a rapid pace. Fragrant blooms open in early to late spring and again in early to late winter, and they draw butterflies and bees.
Pairs well with Lenten rose, Christmas fern, and Fire Island hosta.
