Notes
Western maidenhair fern (Adiantum aleuticum) is a fern for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist soil of most types. The palmate fronds look like a hand with fingers and sit on black stems. They stand upright, especially in more light, or arch slightly. Deer tend to pass it by.
Pairs well with Frances Williams hosta, Bush honeysuckle, and Autumn crocus.
