Notes

White spruce (Picea albertiana) is a tree for woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, loamy soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. This evergreen grows a conical crown, and its lower branches sweep the ground. Birds use it for nesting, and its twigs and seeds feed wildlife.

Pairs well with Twinflower, Woods rose, and Red fescue.
