'Xiao Ye' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Xiao Ye') is a perennial for borders, cut flower use, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It grows upright to 26 inches and holds itself up without support. The single pink flowers open in early to late spring and have no fragrance. Darker spots on the petals suggest dimples on a smiling face.
Pairs well with Cinnamon fern, Carnaval De Nice tulip, and Virginia spiderwort.
