Notes

Yellow pitcher plant (Sarracenia flava) is a perennial for specimen plantings, accents, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and average to wet, sandy or loamy soil. Its tall, trumpet-shaped leaves are hollow and fill with water, where insects drown and the plant digests them. Bright yellow, drooping flowers open in spring and have a musty odor.

Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Chokeberry, and Indian grass.
