Notes
Alabama azalea (Rhododendron alabamense) is a shrub for woodland, specimen, border, and pollinator garden use. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. The lemon-scented white flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. This azalea often hybridizes and may not look true to type, so buy it in flower.
Pairs well with Mountain laurel, Oakleaf hydrangea, Virginian bluebells, and Sourwood.
