Notes

Deciduous azalea (Rhododendron schlippenbachii) is a shrub for borders, specimens, woodland gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Rabbits tend to nibble other plants first. Its rounded form reaches 48 to 72 inches tall, and the white blooms are tinged with pink and fragrant. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Smooth hydrangea, Arrowwood viburnum, Bracken, and Cardinal flower.
