Notes

Pacific rhododendron (Rhododendron macrophyllum) is an evergreen shrub for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Large clusters of pink to rosy purple flowers open in mid to late spring, and hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees visit them. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Full sun keeps the plant shorter.

Pairs well with Vine maple, Bracken, Douglas fir, and Lady fern.
