Notes

'Alert' peony (Paeonia 'Alert') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single, fragrant flowers are a brilliant crimson, and bees and butterflies visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Fire and Ice hosta, Prairie dropseed, and Nodding onion.
