Notes

'Altar Candles' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Altar Candles') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type flowers have cupped, flesh-pink outer petals around wax-white centers tipped with red. They bloom freely in mid season and are not fragrant. Sarah A. Pleas bred it.

Pairs well with Golden Tiara hosta, Prairie dropseed, Picture tulip, and Quick Fire panicle hydrangea.
