Notes

'American Legion' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'American Legion') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double blooms are rose pink with red and white splashes on the petals. It flowers early, several days before Richard Carvel. Arthur L. Murawska bred it.

Pairs well with Queen of Night tulip, Incrediball Storm Proof smooth hydrangea, and Bloodroot.
