Notes

Amethyst sea holly (Eryngium amethystinum) is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It blooms from early to late summer and draws butterflies, bees, and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It also tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Purple moor grass, Dark Towers beardtongue, and American beach grass.
