Notes
'Andenken an Alma Pötschke' New England aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae 'Andenken an Alma Pötschke') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, meadows, rain gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, clay soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Rose-pink flowers with yellow centers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Butterfly milkweed, Indian grass, and Indian Summer rudbeckia.
