Notes

'Purple Pixie' New England aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae 'Purple Pixie') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, meadows, rain gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, clay soil. Purple flowers with yellow centers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Butterfly milkweed, and Prairie Sun rudbeckia.
