Notes

'Roter Stern' New England aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae 'Roter Stern') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, meadows, rain gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, clay soil. It bears rose red blooms that open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the flowers. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Standing Ovation little bluestem, Joe-pyeweed, and Indian Summer rudbeckia.
