Notes

'Purple Dome' new england aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae 'Purple Dome') is a perennial for pollinator gardens, meadows, rain gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, clay soil. Royal purple flowers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Butterfly milkweed, Big bluestem, and Black-eyed Susan.
