Notes

'Antietam' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Antietam') is a perennial for borders and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The semi-double flowers are dark red with white streaks and flecks. They open in early summer above short, compact plants with dark green leaves. George Hollis bred it in 1905.

Pairs well with Siberian iris, Sensitive fern, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
