Notes

'Apollo' culver’s root (Veronicastrum virginicum 'Apollo') is a perennial for cut flowers, pollinator gardens, rain gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It sits low on the menu for deer. The lilac rose flowers look like candelabras and bring in bees and butterflies. Plants bulk up into large clumps with age and become more drought tolerant.

Pairs well with Black-eyed Susan, Switchgrass, White Swan coneflower, and Sweet pepperbush.
