Notes

'Cupid' culver’s root (Veronicastrum virginicum 'Cupid') is a perennial for the back of the border. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil. Lilac-blue flower spikes rise above whorled green foliage from summer to fall, and bees and butterflies visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer. Clumps bulk up over time and become more drought tolerant with age.

Pairs well with Nepeta, Incrediball Blush smooth hydrangea, and Bowl of Cream peony.
