Notes

'April Tryst' camellia (Camellia japonica 'April Tryst') is a shrub for borders, woodland gardens, and pollinator plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. The fragrant flowers are red and attract bees and birds. Its glossy evergreen leaves look good all year, and the slow-growing columnar shrub reaches 5 to 8 feet tall.

Pairs well with Lady fern, Toad lily, and Beautyberry.
