Notes

'Apron Strings' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Apron Strings') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, rose pink flowers have large stringy petals and cream streaked inner petals. Each stem carries 2 to 3 buds, and the plants bloom mid-season. William Henry Krekler bred it, and Klehm's Song Sparrow Perennial Farm introduced it in 2000.

Pairs well with Great blue lobelia, Prairie dropseed, and Black Hero tulip.
