Notes

'Arapahoe' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Arapahoe') is a perennial for borders, cut flower gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The mid season blooms are a rich black red with a red center. The center petals are edged and tipped in light yellow. Edward Auten, Jr bred it, and the flowers keep well when cut.

Pairs well with Dancing Queen hosta, Prairie dropseed, and Indian Summer rudbeckia.
