Notes

'Ardens' rose of sharon (Hibiscus syriacus 'Ardens') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, loamy soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows fast and stands upright, so give it room to reach its mature size. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Big bluestem, Blue-eyed grass, and Virginia spiderwort.
