Notes
'Astra Semi-Double Blue' balloon flower (Platycodon grandiflorus 'Astra Semi-Double Blue') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It forms a low, clumping mound that stays 6 to 12 inches tall and 6 to 9 inches wide. Blue semi-double flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer.
Pairs well with White Feather hosta, Sedge, Black Hero tulip, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
