Notes

'Aureate' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Aureate') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type blooms are 8 inches wide with pale pink guards and rich butter yellow centers. The yellow does not fade in the sun. Ernest Flint Kelsey bred it.

Pairs well with Fire Island hosta, Stargazer lily, and Switchgrass.
