Notes

'Australis' camellia (Camellia japonica 'Australis') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. This evergreen grows slowly into a columnar shape. It blooms in winter and spring, and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Cherry laurel, Mondo grass, and Obedient plant.
