Notes

'Autumn Colors' black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta 'Autumn Colors') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The bicolor blooms mix yellow, orange, red, and brown around a brown cone, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit them. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. You can cut the stems for bouquets.

Pairs well with New England aster, Indian grass, and Nodding onion.
