Notes

'Cherry Brandy' rudbeckia (Rudbeckia hirta 'Cherry Brandy') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its velvet red flowers have a black central cone and bloom all summer into fall. It is short-lived but usually self-seeds around the garden. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Little bluestem, False indigo, and Joe-pyeweed.
