This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Single lavender-purple blooms with red overtones open extra early, and they are fragrant and attract bees and butterflies. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. The sturdy stems stay about 12 to 14 inches tall.
