Notes
'Big Daddy' hosta (Hosta sieboldiana 'Big Daddy') is a perennial for shade gardens, borders, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It forms a clumping mound of foliage that grows 12 to 24 inches tall and 24 to 36 inches wide. Its white to pale lavender flowers are fragrant and attract hummingbirds and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.
Pairs well with Siberian bugloss, Many Happy Returns peony, and Little Hottie panicle hydrangea.
