Notes

'Badlands' switchgrass (Panicum virgatum 'Badlands') is a grass for borders, accents, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy or clay soil. It forms a clump that grows up to 60 inches tall, and butterflies and birds visit it. It sits low on the menu for deer. Its purple-tinged blooms add interest in summer.

Pairs well with Big bluestem, Black-eyed Susan, and Great blue lobelia.
