Notes

'Prairie Dog' switchgrass (Panicum virgatum 'Prairie Dog') is a grass for borders, accents, winter interest, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy or clay soil. The blue foliage grows in a compact, upright clump with sturdy stems that stand through winter snow. Airy pink flower clusters top the plant in late summer. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Blue wild indigo, Blue star, and Little bluestem.
