Notes
'Banana Boat' sedge (Carex siderosticta 'Banana Boat') is a grass for borders, containers, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It stays 6 to 12 inches tall and wide, so it suits small spaces. Tan-brown flowers appear in spring, summer, and autumn. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Lady fern, Ostrich fern, and Swamp milkweed.
