Notes

'Basia' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Basia') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears large double white flowers with light yellow stamens in mid to late spring. The stems are strong, but they lean when the flowers open, so you may want to give them support. Dale Heinzman introduced it in 2000.

Pairs well with Purrsian Blue nepeta, Aromatic aster, and Tall fescue.
