Notes
'Bertha’s Choice' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Bertha’s Choice') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears single, dark currant red flowers that measure 5 to 5½ inches across. Young plants bloom well, and the flowers last in arrangements when you do not disbud them.
Pairs well with Purrsian Blue nepeta, Hairy aster, Incrediball Storm Proof smooth hydrangea, and Royal fern.
