Notes

'Beryll' peony (Paeonia 'Beryll') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Irmtraud Rieck bred it, and the light yellow flowers have red flares at the base of the petals. The color fades as the blooms age, and the stiff stems hold them up well. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Royal Standard hosta, Nodding onion, and Switchgrass.
