Notes

Big red sage (Salvia pentstemonoides) is a perennial that grows 36 to 48 inches tall. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, loamy, clay, or chalky soil. The purplish red flowers open in summer and draw many hummingbirds. Glossy leaves smell like lemon-lime when you rub them, so plant it where you can brush past.

Pairs well with Blue mistflower, Fountain grass, and Knock Out rose.
