Notes

Bishop's hat (Epimedium cantabrigiense) is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland borders, and groundcover. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part to full shade and dry to average soil. It blooms in mid to late spring with yellow flowers that have a pink tinge. The plant grows 12 to 24 inches tall and spreads 24 to 36 inches wide, so give it room to fill in.

Pairs well with Marginal wood fern, Wild hyacinth, and Appalachian sedge.
