Notes

'Black Eagle' peony (Paeonia 'Black Eagle') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The dark red flowers have darker flares and a sweet fragrance, and strong stems hold them above the foliage. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Harold Entsminger bred it.

Pairs well with June hosta, David garden phlox, and Stargazer lily.
